Long ago, there lived a man named Jack Hollan. He was the local barber for the small town of Barnsbury. Many traveler's would stop by his quaint little shop on their way into town to get their hair cut by him. He was a very kind man, well known by all of the towns people. Everyone in the town would always come to him if they needed to get their hair cut. But there was one customer that he seemed to take extra care of, a beautiful girl named Scarlet Whiters. Every man in Barnsbury was out to take her hand in marriage, but she would always decline everyones offers. Even the richest man in Barnsbury, Victor Franko could not get Scarlet to marry him. He had tried everything. He had offered her his fortune, his house, anything she wanted, and she would still decline. One day, Scarlet was on her way into Jack's shop to get her hair cut, when Victor stopped her once again to ask for her hand in marriage. Scarlet routinely declined. Fervent with rage, Victor stomped off down the street towards the local pub cursing. Scarlet just rolled her eyes, as this had not been the first time she had to decline such an offer, and walked into Jack's barber shop. Jack welcomed her with a warm smile, sat her down in the chair, and began cutting her hair. They talked for hours and hours, until the sun started to go down, and the moon began to rise over the valley. Finally realizing that it was night time, they ended their conversation, and Jack walked Scarlet home. As Jack passed by the local bar, he saw Victor walking down the street drunk. He had seen Jack walk Scarlet home, and in an angry, jealous rage, wanted Jack to fight him. Jack, knowing victor was drunk declined. And he began to walk away towards his home just past a narrow one lane road next to the Virgin River called Hollow Pass. The next day, Scarlet came once again into Jack's barber shop, and they began to talk for hours and hours until the sun went down, and the moon peaked over the valley. This began to go on for several months, and soon, Jack asked for Scarlets hand in marriage. Scarlet accepted, and they set the date of their marriage for the next day, for they wanted to be united as quickly as possible. Jack walked Scarlet home like he always did, and on his way home, ran into Victor Franko, drunken in the streets. Jack could smell the stench of cigars and alcohol very heavy on Victor tonight, and Victor seemed to be in a mad rage. Victor had heard the news about Jack and Scarlets marriage that was to take place the next day. Victor, furious with anger pulled out a knife and tried to thrust it in Jacks chest, but missed. Jack punched Victor square in the face, knocking him down. Jack waited for Victor to get up, but he never did. Jack, thinking Victor had passed out from the alcohol, then began to walk on his way through Hollow Pass to get home. Just as he reaches Hollow Pass, Victor jumps out from behind a tree, Knife glinting in his hand, thrusts the knife deep into Jacks stomach, then once again into his chest, violently stabbing Jack multiple times. He then throws Jacks mangled body into the Virgin River under the bridge, and bury's his cloths. The next day, Scarlet goes to Jacks barber shop to set up plans for the wedding, when she realizes that he is not there. She looks everywhere for him, eventually deciding to check his house, but he wasn't there either. Realizing that he had not opened up his shop for the morning like he routinely did, and that no one had seen him, she went to the police department, and gathered a search party to help look for him. They searched all day, until finally, someone found his mangled body and blood drenched cloths under the bridge on Hollow Pass. He had been stabbed over 35 times, and his eyes had been cut out. When Scarlet had heard the news, she was extremely sad and depressed. She would not be marrying Jack, the only man she had ever loved. A few days later, she committed a gruesome suicide by hanging herself with barbed wire. Now... no one could marry the beautiful Scarlet Whiters. Scarlets funeral was held the same day, and she was buried next to her fiancé Jack. The police were still hot on the case for the murder of Jack Whiters, and a few days after Scarlets death, found Victors cloths buried next to a tree on the way into Hollow Pass. The police had finally caught their murderer. Victor, realizing that the police knew he had killed Jack, went up to his attic that night, and shot himself in the head with a pistol. This small town had seen three deaths within the past week, and now had a dark history. For now, every time someone passes down that narrow one-lane road called Hallow Pass, they see a man slowly making his way a crossed the bridge, wearing bloodied cloths missing his eyes, moaning the name of his fiancé Scarlet, and some say, that if you look up into the trees, that you can see Jacks fiancé Scarlet hanging in the trees swinging back and forth with her blood drenched wedding gown, neck tightly wrapped with barbed wire....
